This is post is a summary of what my comp readers, Professor Jumadinova and Professor Brand, and I talked about on October 8th and 9th, 2024.
October 8th
With Professor Brand we discussed my presentation and the areas I did well and some that I can work on.
The main thing we discussed was that I need to be more specific with my definitions and concepts. Humanity is too broad. What am I saying about it and how? We also talked about the definition of robots and how this fits both the robot and AI definition. They are responding automatically without human intervention.
Ideally I do not want my robots to be puppets for the words I make and instead write their own. These are basically the embodiment for AI which does not have a body.
Things I also need to get more specific on is the term positive outcome. What is a positive outcome? I need to clearly define the takeaways of this project.
I also need to look into this emphasis on replacement and the great replacement theory to really understand these fears and their orgin in things maybe outside of tech.
In the end, we finished on that my presentation was good but I need to zoom in more on the point and the final message of the work instead of being so broad.
October 9th
Professor Jumadinova and I discussed my progress this week. I had a tough time with the jaws printing and I hope to be able to get that done this week.
We also talked about what my prototype should look like. We came up with that it should at least display the eye and jaw movement and have some sound and conversation to it. I can generate the conversation before hand and store it.
She also liked my idea to transition one of my AI to be an animation on a screen. However, I need to ask the art department about using a screen and if I can use the gallery side room.
We also talked about how I need to get more specific about generating conversatuin and how the more specific I am, the better the text will be.
We also talked about what my experiment could be and with the emotions and expressions part I can also have an expermiment on different AI personalities and possible biases with different traits.
Overall, I have to keep working to get a prototype ready by November.

- Look into the great replacement theory
