My art serves to demonstrate the dynamic collaboration between human creativity and our growing technological abilities. I am fascinated by the relationship between humanity and technology, and I delve into the dichotomy of human creativity versus non-human processes, as a means to unravel the evolving concept of personhood.
I often focus on themes that work to demonstrate the crossover between humanity and technology such as personification, uncanny imagery, and alternate realities. My work navigates the places where humanity and technology intersect. I often peek into the future of technology as a means of exploring what our definition of personhood might develop into, especially with our exponential growth of artificial intelligence (AI).
As a creative technologist, my process is inherently process-driven, comparing and contrasting human creativity pathways to those of non-human entities. I am unrestrained to a singular medium. Instead, I continuously experiment with new technologies, focusing on AI, robotics, and computer visualization. Often, I jump into my work without knowing the outcome which creates an inherently experimental nature to all my processes.
My pieces incorporate elements of the uncanny and alternate realities and invite viewers to consider the emotional responses elicited by the interplay between the “comfortable” and the “uncomfortable.” I embrace the wonderfully “weird” nature of my art. I also conscientiously weigh the ethical dimensions of technological progress, reflecting on sustainability and improvement from the project’s inception. Technological ethics is integral to my work as humanity is inherently tied to the inventions of new technologies and should strive to work ethically.
I hope to inspire dialogues about the ethical implications of technology and that my work becomes a catalyst for discussions about humanity’s growing relationship with technology. By engaging with elements that provoke intense emotional reactions, I navigate the intricate dance between fascination and contemplation, urging viewers to consider the evolving relationship between humans and technology.
