This is post is a summary of what my comp readers, Professor Jumadinova and Professor Brand, and I talked about on October 15th and 16th, 2024.
October 15th
With Professor Brand I was able to discuss accomodations in the gallery for this project. The plan is to have a screen for part of the discussion and subtitles. The art department does have screens however they can not guarantee me anything until we see all the other art comps next semester.
Additionally, we talked about using the smaller room for my piece. She said that could happen although she can not guarantee it because any people making films would get priority to that room. Personally, I am okay with my piece going wherever but I do not want to override anyone elses work so we will have to think very consciously about where it goes in the end.
Finally, we talked about how I should consider what componsents will be visibile versus what will not be. There is a sense of wonder that comes from not seeing the parts that are behind the action or do I want people to realize this is all controlled by a computer which would have a different reaction. I have to be very conscious about these decisions of what to hide and not hide in the gallery because people are naturally nosey and want to know what is going on.
She is also looking into the $150 I should be recieving this semester to work on my project.
October 16th
Sadly I could not meet with Professor Jumadinova in person this week because I was feeling unwell. However, I was able to update her with my progress on the 3-D printed voice box and how I was able to solder the speakers to connect to the Arduino. I also ordered a Raspberry Pi Pico in case the Arduino is not able to produce the sounds that I need. The larger servo for the jaw also came in and now I am in the process of sizing screws to be able to fit it in to make the jaw move properly.

- Print more pieces
- Look into senior project money
