This is post is a summary of what my comp readers, Professor Jumadinova and Professor Brand, and I talked about on October 29th and 30th, 2024.
October 29th
When I met with Professor Brand I caught her up on my progress on my prototype. She wanted me to think about if I still wanted skin on my robot and if I want a neck. She recommened I plan out the next semester work and play with materials over break so I can get a better idea of the final product.
I also showed her my presentation grade and we talked about the qualitative and quantitative needs of the final project. This means I have to figure out the non-negotiables for next semester. Both the process and the mediums matter so writing down my process and choices is very important.
Finally, we talked about what I am going to do with the jaws. I explained how it will be almost impossible for the audio to exactly match the jaw movement. I told her how I think the amount of time it would take is not worth it because the matching is not integral for my final product.
October 30th
With Professor Jumadinova I was able to catch her up on the work I have been doing. I told her about how I am looking to add a shelf on the inside of the head to hold the electronics. We also talked about how I should focus on the audio and movement rather than the text generation which I can do next semester. I also need to fix my posts so they pass the checks, I need to add lists from now on.
Goals
- Make a new meeting time with both professors before the end of the semester
- Finish prototype
- Work on neck 3D prints
