Meeting Notes
This is post is a summary of what my comp advisors, Professor Jumadinova and Professor Brand, and I talked about on September 6th, 2024.
We mainly discussed the ASI requirements for the project and how that relates to the CS requirements. Overall, the format will for the most part stick with the CS outline but add a few key requirements which include:
- Participation in the Spring Gallery
- Attend a mid-semester art review (done in the spring)
- Include a bibliography of at least 5 artists
- Include a section on self-critique (what you hoped versus what actually happened, how would you do it again)
- Include the process of creation in the Methods section (Intent and outcome)
- Include an opening artist statement with the goal of being used after graduation
- Include some contextualization of where the piece sits in relationship to artists past or contemporary.
We also discussed the need for a budget so that I can apply for the various funds to pay for my supply needs. The Kleeman fund offers up to $500 a semester and the Class of 1939 fund can go towards the project as well. We talked about including every little detail in the budget to make sure I am able to fully support this project. Overall, I hope it to be under $1000. As a senior art student I will also get $150 to help pay for materials next semester. I need to remember to update my budget with all the supplies I will need and include the GPT software subcription into that budget.
Finally, we talked about different resources I could use for the art conversation part of my writing including information on the post-human. Most of the literature review should be done this semester so next semester I can focus on other aspects of the projcet. I recieved a book last year at the student art show which will be very helpful in finding artists in which to situate myself between.
Overall, the meeting went very well and I was able to get signatures from both my advisors. I also sceduled weekly meetings with them both. Professor Brand on Tuesdays and Professor Jumadinova on Wednesdays. I am looking forward to our future meetings.
