This is post is a summary of what my comp readers, Professor Jumadinova and Professor Brand, and I talked about on October 22nd and 23rd, 2024.
October 22nd
I was not able to meet with Professor Brand in person this week due to illness. However we figured out that I had actually recieved $200 from the senior art fund which was amazing. I just had misplaced the check but it is all good now. I also caught her up on my progress with the prototype. I am really happy with this weeks work because I was able to get majority of the skull printed and I have one piece left. I figured out that using glue helped a lot. I also decided to order more electronics for my piece.
October 23rd
With Professor Jumadinova I was able to catch her up on the work I have been doing. I also decided to switch to Raspberry Pi to control the motors and the sound. The reason I switched was because the Raspberry Pi Pico W has wifi capabilities built in and it is more capable of sound production than Arduino. With Arduino I was limited to what sound I could put on an SD card buut that would not work for my project since it was meant to generate live. I may have to switch to a different generation model that is open source such as ollama because it could be better suited for the generations and it is free. That is something to worry about later though.
JJ and I talked about how for my prototype I only need to worry about it playing a .wav
file that exists instead of having the generation code finished. The prototype also should be moving the motors. We also talked about how I should be working on my literature review because about half my comp is written this semester.
Finally, we talked about making one more meeting with Professor Brand before the end of the semester.
Goals
- Make a new meeting time with both professors before the end of the semester
- Finish prototype
- Figure out sound playing
