Summary:
This week I presented, so here are my notes on my presentation. Overall, I think I did really well but there is some ways that I could have improved my presentation.
Stengths:
First, I think my enthusiasm for the project came across really well. I was excited and I think the audience got that from my presentaion. A lot of people said they were interested in it after my presentation making me feel more confident in the idea itself and that my presentation was engaging. I spoke loud enough for everyone to hear me which also helped with engagement.
Another strength I had was identifying the audiences of the piece. My example of my parent’s being technophobes really struck a cord with some people and I think identifying them as part of the audience was key. I also think I explained the accessibility of my piece really well.
Finally, I think bringing some of my work in progress, my 3-D prints helped prove that I was capable of my approach. I think I defined my approach to making this piece well and what it will look like in the end. The physical pieces were interesting to the audience and helped people see the vision more.
Weaknesses:
First of all, I think I talked on the faster side. When presenting with a time limit I try to say a lot really fast which can make it harder for my audience to understand what I was talking about. I slowed down near the end but the begining could have been slower.
Secondly, I think getting more specific on what I meant by “humanity” would really help improve my target on the project. It will make it more understandable and focused if I come up with a specific definition of the topics at hand and the themes I want to address.
Lastly, on a very similar line I need to get more specific on what I want to tackle issue wise. I have so many ideas of what this project can mean and its impact but it is important to focus. I went off track at the end and made it sould like this is a project about techno-solutionism which was not what I wanted so defining the problems and the outcome of the project will be very important. Even just revisioning them as goals such as “generating conversation about AI and how hard it is to achieve actual human processes”. I know I want to address people’s fears of being replaced by AI so I need to define that further. There are many questions that can be asked but focusing in on the specific topics of concern is very important.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, I think I am on the right track and the presentation
Goals
- Continue to print parts
- Work on movement
- Get more specific on humanity in project
