Hello, I am Keller Liptrap and I am developing a tool that is currently named Never Tell Me the Odds. This tool will predict the outcome of NBA games using stats and machine learning or AI. To do this I will need NBA season stats that contain multiple differen categoreis such as points, rebounds, and assists. This information will be taken in by a machine learning model. This model to start will be sklearn becuase it is simple plug and play bu farther down the line I would like to use more advaced machine learning techniques. This model will then be used in a dashbaord. This dashboard will display the current days NBA games. In addition to this it will show the predicted winner based on the model.
The issue I am planning to find out is what stats and factors determine the outcome of NBA games. Some stats may determine the outcomes of games better than other stat categories. Finding trends in stats can allow NBA teams to understand where they need to improve.
I believe that I am the right person to develop this kind of tool because I enjoy finding the patterns in stats that may lead to a specific outcome. I also have played sports throughout my life so I understand what these stats mean, where they come from, and how they may impact one another. In addition to this, I find the sports betting market interesting. I often follow the games on sports betting apps to see who is predicted to win and this tool allows an alternative way of doing so.
